In January 1997, John B. Mitchell opened Mitchell Forestry Consulting, Inc., a private, full-service forestry consulting organization, dedicated to working in the best interest of the client.
In February 2007, they incorporated Mitchell Forestry Consulting, Inc. into Mitchell Forestry and Wildlife Services, Inc. The new organization operates on the same initial ideals and purpose, but with expanded emphasis on wildlife planning and management for clients interested in recreational and investment properties.

Jay B. Mitchell
Jay is President of Mitchell Forestry and Wildlife Services, LLC. He has worked in the forestry and wildlife profession since August 1998.
Jay graduated from Mississippi State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry.
He worked in the animal science industry for Prestage Farms, a large hog producer based in North Carolina, for 5 years. In 1998, realizing the rapid growth of Mitchell Forestry Consulting, Jay came to work with his dad. In order to more effectively assist landowners in successfully accomplishing their forestry and wildlife goals, Jay began in 2004 to work in earnest toward a second degree in forestry and wildlife management.
Jay graduated in May 2006 from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management.
Jay actively manages a number of client properties for the enhancement and long-term sustainability of the forest and wildlife resources. He is a Registered Forester, a Wildlife Biologist, and real estate sales agent in Mississippi, a Member of the Association of Consulting Foresters, a certified Tree Farm Inspector, and a NRCS Technical Service Provider (TSP) in MS, TN, and AL.
Other memberships include The Wildlife Society, the Quality Deer Management Association, the Mississippi Forestry Association and the National Wild Turkey Federation.

John B. Mitchell
John is vice president of Mitchell Forestry and Wildlife Services, LLC. He has practiced professional forestry for more than 30 years with industry and non-industrial private landowners in Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee.
He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry. He began his forestry career in December 1975 with Tennessee River Pulp and Paper Company as a project forester in charge of land management and timber procurement responsibilities. Over the following 21 years, John’s experience and knowledge placed him in the position of Counce Woodlands Division Operations Manager of Packaging Corporation of America. His responsibilities included the acquisition and cost accountability for 1.5 million cords of raw material annually to supply one paper mill, one pine sawmill, two hardwood sawmills, one chip mill and a pole mill.
In addition, he was responsible for land management activities on 410,000 acres in Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama. He gained broad experience in the forest products industry in raw material procurement, land management, organizational and cost leadership and business strategy.
In January 1997, John opened Mitchell Forestry Consulting, Inc., a private, full-service forestry consulting organization dedicated to working in the best interest of non-industrial private landowners. His broad industrial knowledge and experience are now directed at helping non-industrial private landowners achieve their land and timber management goals in the most productive, cost effective manner with the greatest possible economic return. John became a real estate broker in 1999 to assist his clients in locating and/or selling timberland property for investment and recreational use.
In August 1998, John’s son, Jay Mitchell, joined him in the business. In May 2006, Jay graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management. John serves on the Mississippi Board of Registration for Foresters as a Board Member and is an active member of the Association of Consulting Foresters. He is a Registered Forester in Mississippi, a Certified Burn Manager, and a real estate broker in Mississippi and Tennessee. Other memberships include the Mississippi Forestry Association, the Tennessee Forestry Association, and the Forest Landowners Association.

Mitchell H. Newman
Mitchell H. Newman
Mitchell began working at Mitchell Forestry and Wildlife Services, LLC in April of 2018 as a staff forester at the southern office in Lucedale, Mississippi.
Mitchell graduated from Mississippi State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management. He began his career as a Procurement Forester for Amite County Poles and Piling in Gloster, Mississippi, where his primary responsibilities were purchasing pole and piling timber and supervision of logging crews. In 2012, Mitchell went to work for Mississippi State Extension Service as a county extension agent in Greene County, Mississippi, and while working there he obtained a Master of Science Degree in Agriculture and Extension Education. In 2016, Mitchell accepted a position as project manager for Advanced Residuals Management at Leaf River Cellulose in New Augusta, Mississippi. ARM is a company from North Carolina that manages byproducts for pulp and paper mills across the Southeast United States.

David S. Duff
David S. Duff
David started working at Mitchell Forestry and Wildlife Services, LLC in May of 2017.
David graduated from Auburn University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Management. David started his career at Tennessee River Pulp and Paper Company as a Project Forester where he bought timber, managed company land, and supervised employees. In 1981, David was promoted to Landowner Assistance Forester where he assisted non-industrial private landowners with timber management on their properties. In 1982, David left the industrial side of forestry, and became a Consulting Forester for Mid-South Forestry, Inc. where he helped build a new company.
David is a Registered Forester in Mississippi and Alabama, a certified American Tree Farm Inspector, and a Real Estate Agent in Mississippi.

Grant Harrison
Grant Harrison
Grant is the director of business development at American Timber and Agriculture based in Memphis, Tennessee.
Grant has been in the Financial Services industry for ten years. Most recently, he spent three years in institutional fixed income sales with Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P. Grant primarily worked with community banks across the Southeast region of the U.S. helping them develop strategic investment plans. He also maintained Series 7 and Series 63 licenses. Previously, he spent seven years in retail banking and private banking with Lafayette, Louisiana-based IBERBIABANK and Atlanta, Georgia-based Cadence Bank, N.A. Grant sold annuities and insurance products, managed individual portfolios for high net worth clients and developed strong relationships with business customers. Grant has been an avid outdoorsman for 30 years. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Memphis.
